MEDIASPHERE OF KAZAKHSTAN: INSIGHTS FROM REGIONAL JOURNALISTS

Dear colleagues,
We would like to share if you an overview of regional journalism in Kazakhstan. We conducted a survey among mass media representatives in all regions of the country in regard to the challenges that they faced after the recent amendments to the local media legislation, which hinder the development of journalism. In this report, you will find an overview of opinions of journalists on thirteen topics, including access to information, defamation, Internet regulation, government funding of the media, hate speech, copyright, as well as recommendations and descriptions of the general situation in media sphere in Kazakhstan. The text is available in Kazakh and Russian. We would love to hear your comments and feedback.
