On May 13, the hearing of Jamila Maricheva’s case continued in the Specialised Interdistrict Administrative Court of Almaty
The journalist was found guilty under the article on «spreading false information» and was fined 20 MCI (73840 tenge)
Earlier, the court refused to conduct a philological examination and a motion to dismiss the case due to the lack of corpus delicti.
Recall that Jamila Maricheva is the founder of the ProTenge project, specializing in investigations in the field of public procurement and corruption. The Legal Media Center believes that such decisions to convict journalists undermine the foundations of a democratic society and freedom of speech.
